FAQs: Frequently asked question-related to DNB counseling and admission 2021
Question :Is DNB is equivalent to MD and MS?
Answer: Yes, DNB is almost equivalent to MD/MS for practice. Only for teaching eligibility in medical colleges there is a difference, and additional SR ship may be required.
1) DNB from institutes which run PG medical courses too(attached to medical colleges etc.) – No additional requirement
2)DNB from institutes with 500+ beds, 30+ in the specialty and has  teachers who qualify as pg teachers as mentioned – No additional SR ship required
3) All other 100+ beds – 1 year SR ship is required.
4) All other institutes – 2 year SR ship required.
Again emphasizing that this is only if wish to join as faculty in a medical college or a teaching institute. For regular practice, DNB is equivalent to MD/MS once you pass out.
Answer: No. That comes under SS. MS/DNb gen surgery entry qualification for DNB onco surgery.
6 years integrated courses that can be done after mbbs
1) Mch neurosurgery
2) DNB paediatric surgery
3) DNB plastic surgery
4) DNB neurosurgery
5) DNB cardiothoracic surgery

Ans: Actually DNB R1 joined candidates can attend state Round 2 and (only then) their freezed DNB Round 1 seat would come back to DNB Round 3. That’s how you get vacancies in DNB. (Here DNB Round 3 timelines of NBE are important though, but that’s an NBE scheduling issue, and hopefully NBE would would look in to it).
Those candidates who froze seat by paying 1.25 lakhs because that DNB seat was the best seat available and they would have wanted to take that if no state Round 2 seat. Now if NBE doesn’t allow them to move to better seat anywhere, then it is also a loss for those who are looking at DNB too right. .
Already ,more than 100 frozen seats reverted back in DNB Round 3 as candidates were allowed to participate in All India Round 2. Same here.
Only very few would have made a mistake of freezing an undesired seat paying 1.25 lakhs. Just to penalize such one or two candidates, the rest of the seats that would come back to DNB from state Round 2 up gradation should not be lost.
Ans: Although DNB course is equivalent to MD & MS. Good thing is that in DNB fee is same in All Institutes/Hospitals and very nominal. For session this fee is Rs 1.25 Lakhs per annum whereas MD/MS course fee is very much higher in private medical colleges. More over there is more practical exposure to DNB candidates. Only problem with DNB is its passing result which is really very poor.
So all of you are requested to kindly discussed with existing students before taking DNB Admission 2021.
