The Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore was established in year 1918.
It is maintained by the Christian Medical College Vellore Association, a registered christian society.
Society is formed by over 50 different Indian Christian churches and Christian organisations .

Christian Medical College Library
Medical College Library was started in year 1960 and you can understand its importance.At that time there was shortage of books and journals especially in medical discipline. facilities to not only undergraduate students but also to teachers.
The library was divided in to two parts -one in college campus and another one in hospital . The Name of Library at Hospital campus was known as Dodd Memorial and whereas in the College campus it was Gault Library.
Christian Medical College Library was collections of all medical undergraduate programs taught and the research activities carried out in campus. Reference materials, multimedia collections, on line electronic databases, journals both print and online, bound volumes of journals, a state of the art library Management system and professional staff have been dedicated to ensure an efficient and supportive learning environment to all.
There is an online public access catalog for searching not only the books but online and offline journals also. CMC uses the National Library of Medicine Classification (NLM) for Medical Books and the Library of Congress classification (LC) for General books for stack arrangements. The library portal includes access to full-text electronic journals databases, a collection of e books, Abstracts of the Thesis, the Institutional Repositories and other web-based portals and links.
