NEET UG 2024 MBBS seats Cut off Marks
If we talked about NEET UG, it is one of the most competitive exam in India, in which around 24 lakh students registered themselves and due to high competition and comparatively less number of MBBS seats ,students must secure good score to get admission in Government colleges through state quota or MCC All India Counselling.

Before going to start our main article we would like to discuss about MBBS seats status in India.
Total MBBS seats in India 2024
As per latest information , at the time of 2024-25 counselling there will be around 818 medical colleges with 123445 MBBS seats*( expected) in India .If we compare with last year data this year there will be 15000 more MBBS seats.
112 New Medical colleges in India 2024
As per latest notification on official website of NMC, 112 medical colleges are proposed this year (2024-25 session), out of these 50 are Govt medical colleges and remaining 62 are private/deemed medical colleges.

Last year 53 new medical colleges gets approval for MBBS admission for session 2023-24. Out of these 53 new medical colleges 31(Thirty one) were Government and 22 (Twenty Two) were deemed/private medical colleges.
If we check state wise new medical colleges ,highest 12 (Twelve) were in Telangana ,05 (five) each in Rajasthan ,Andhra Pradesh ,amp; Maharashtra ,04 (Four ) in Gujarat ,03 (Three) each in Assam, Haryana ,Karnataka , Tamil Nadu , 02 (Two) in West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha , J,amp; K and 01 (one) each in Uttar Pradesh ,amp; Nagaland .
As of now, as per official website of NMC ( March 21,2024) there are 706 medical colleges in India . Out of these 706 medical colleges there are 389 Govt./Semi Govt. , AIIMS ,amp; Central Universities/ Instituitions , 52 are deemed Universities and remaining 265 are private medical colleges in various states/UT’s of India. If we talked about number of MBBS seats ,till now there are 109145 MBBS seats (57330 in Govt. /Semi Govt. Instituitions and 51815 in private/Deemed medical colleges across India.
If we go through the official website data we find that 8420 MBBS seats are already updated on official website of NMC for coming session .

As per the last year’s NEET UG result , General category (also called as unreserved category) aspirants need minimum 117 marks (50 percentile). On the other hand, UR/EWS-PH (Unreserved ,amp; EWS- Physical Handicapped) requires 105 marks(45 percentile) and SC/OBC/ST needs 93 marks (40 percentile).
For those who don’t know what is the percentile ?
Percentile used in NEET to determine students rankings. For example, 50 percentile means you must scores higher more than 50% of students appeared in NEET UG .
It is assumed for previous cutoffs, for getting admission in Govt. medical colleges under an unreserved category or general, students have to get minimum 520 to 600 marks depending on states.
And to get admission in the Good Private Medical college you need to score 350 marks in NEET UG. This is for general category students.
Whereas, OBC/SC/ST category students need 40 percentile score in NEET UG to get MBBS admission they need more than 93( minimum )marks. This is based on last year cut-off.

NEET UG Cutoff
Eligible Candidates can only appear in NEET counselling and seat allocation process if they meet NEET UG cut off.
As we already mentioned above, the qualifying criteria is 50 percentile for Unreserved (General) category, 45 percentile for UR/EWS-PH and 40 percentile for SC/OBC/ST students.

What is Tie-breaking Criteria
Tie-breaking criteria are applied when two or more candidates obtain the same NEET scores. But who will eligible for the merit.
Suppose, Ravi and Tejas got same marks so in this case Tie-breaking criteria will be applied.
In such cases, Following mentioned criteria are followed:
- Biology marks: Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany ,amp; Zoology) in the exam will be preferred in NEET UG result.
- Chemistry marks: If the ‘Biology marks’ criteria fail, Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry will be preferred.
- Less incorrect marks: If the above two tactics are followed and the tie still persists, Candidates with less number of attempted wrong answers in all the subjects will be given a higher order of merit.
- If all the above criteria fail, the candidate who is older in age will be considered over others.
