Today we will discuss about “Open states for MBBS MD MS BDS Admission in India”. Read this article till end to know the complete details about open state for medical admissions.
As we know that only some of states of India which allows students from other states to take admission.But keep in mind that these admission are in private medical colleges only.Students can participate in these state counselling irrespective of their domicile.

Before starting our main topic, we would like to share some important date related to number of MBBS seats in India.
As of now ( May 26,2023) there are 694 medical colleges in India . Out of there 694 medical colleges there are 383 Govt./Semi Govt. ,AIIMS , Central Universities/ Instituitions , 51 are deemed Universities and remaining 260 are private medical colleges in various states/UT’s of India. If we talked about number of MBBS seats ,till now there are 106183 MBBS seats (55468 in Govt. /Semi Govt. Instituitions , 50715 in private/Deemed medical colleges across India).

If we go through the official website data we find that from 2021-22 session to 2022-23 session around 100 new medical colleges gets approval for MBBS admissions.
We can check from given table that 5000 MBBS seats are already added for coming session 2023-24.

*=means these states offers MBBS,BDS,MD,MS seats to other states students also but not from 1st round of counselling. Some states allows after round one whereas some allows in mop up round only.
#Closed state don’t allow other state student. On the other hand some states are there which are not open for all.
In these states only state domicile candidates can take admission.
Examples are -Maharastra,Punjab,Gujarat and Odisha.

Ans: Although counselling process for MBBS/BDS and other courses like AYUSH starts only after declaration of result but some states released their application form very early , sometimes in the month of February.
