IIT Kharagpur will start MBBS course soon
IIT Kharagpur will start MBBS course from next year.
The IIT is also starting a 400-bedded super specialty hospital.
Although IIT Kharagpur is famous for its Engineering college, but now it is going to start MBBS course from next academic year.

We want to bring in to your kind notice that IIT,Kharagpur have given alumni like google CEO Sundar Pichai,Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and former vodafone CEO Arun Sarin.
Probably it will become first IIT to produce engineers,MBAs and Doctors.
IIT Kharagpur is planning to start Dr.B,C.Roy Institute of Medical Sc. and research by the end of this year.
In the beginning , the hospital will open its outdoor patients department and hospital will be operational for patients from next year.
MBBS program will be for 50
In first phase MBBS program will be for 50 students.
In addition to this colleges administration is planning to start undergraduate ,postgraduate degrees in allied health education courses.
College has already collaborated with AIIMS,Tata Medical center and South Eastern Railway hospital.
In later stages college administration is planning to increase the capacity of hospital up to 750 beds and number of MBBS seat up to 100.
cross-subsidy model
College will run hospital on cross-subsidy model.
10% beds wold be free and 65% of the beds would be charged as per the rates in the Central and state health insurance scheme.
According to project director,”we are trying to an build entire ecosystem and not just a hospital.
