For all the candidates who are going to appear in the NEET UG 2024 entrance exam ,which is scheduled on May 5,2023 (Sunday), it is mandatory for them to qualify it ,for getting a seat in any of the medical college of India or abroad. NEET UG 2024 result will be declared on June 4, 2024.

If we talked about last year NEET UG entrance exam ,it was condcuted on May 7 (Sunday) and result was declared in mid of June.
As you know All India Quota Seat counseling will be conducted by Medical Counselling Committee. All GMCs in India except AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, AMU and AFMC, 15% of their seats are reserved for All India Quota except the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir till last year.
Good thing is that from last session Jammu , Kashmir took part in AIQ counselling.This means that any medical aspirant of any state irrespective of his/her domicile can take admission through AIQ 15% seats .
For example, PGIMS, Rohtak Haryana have 250 Government MBBS seats, then 37 seats are reserved for 15% All India Quota counselling. Any student can take admission on these 37 seats and counseling for these 37 seats will be conducted by MCC, while for remaining 213 seats only the candidates from Haryana (Except NRI quota candidates ) can take admission against 85% seats which is known as State quota, the counseling of which will be conducted by the State Counseling Authority. There are around 8000 MBBS seats reserved for 15% All India Quota in total 355 GMCs .

As per latest notification on official website of NMC, 112 medical colleges are proposed this year (2024-25 session), out of these 50 are Govt medical colleges and remaining 62 are private/deemed medical colleges. If we talked about state wise then Uttar Pradesh-22 Maharashtra- 14 Rajasthan-11 Telangana-11 Madhya Pradesh & West Bengal-08 Andhra Pradesh-07 Karnataka & Tamil Nadu-05 Uttarakhand, Gujarat & Odisha-03 Bihar & Chhattisgarh- 02 Haryana, New Delhi , Assam , Kerala, Punjab , Sikkim & Tripura-01 , medical colleges are proposed state wise for upcoming session .

If we go through the official website data we find that from 2021-22 session to 2022-23 session around 100 new medical colleges gets approval for MBBS admissions.
As of now ( March 30,2024) there are 706 medical colleges in India . Out of there 706 medical colleges there are 390 Govt./Semi Govt. ,AIIMS , Central Universities/ Instituitions , 51 are deemed Universities and remaining 265 are private medical colleges in various states/UT’s of India. If we talked about number of MBBS seats ,till now there are 108915 MBBS seats (54168 in Govt. /Semi Govt. Instituitions , 50165 in private/Deemed medical colleges across India).
