Today we will discuss about MBBS seats increased in 2025. Read this article till end to know the complete details .As number of medical colleges are increasing every year. So we are going to provide complete details about MBBS seats in India.
As per latest information from official website of NMC , there are 779 medical colleges with 117975 MBBS seats in India as on today . As per statement of Finance minister in Union Budget 2025 , 10000 MBBS seats will be added this year , around total 75000 MBBS seats will be added in next five years.
As per notification of NTA ,this year NEET UG 2025 will be conducted on May 4 , 2025 (Sunday) and result will be declared before June 14 , 2025 after that state will release merit list for MBBS BDS and other profession courses admission 2025. In Govt. medical colleges 15% of total seats are reserved for All India Quota and counselling for these seats are conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). For the remaining 85 % seats of Govt. colleges and 100% seats of private medical colleges(if any) counselling will be conducted by state authority. If we go through the official website data we find that 8420 MBBS seats are already updated on official website of NMC for coming session. Good news is that last year, 02 ( Two) new medical colleges were proposed in state.

As per latest information , at the time of 2025-26 counseling there will be more than that 825 medical colleges with 125000 MBBS seats*( expected) in India .If we compare with last year data this year there will be 15000 more MBBS seats.

Last year 53 new medical colleges gets approval for MBBS admission for session 2023-24. Out of these 53 new medical colleges 31(Thirty one) were Government and 22 (Twenty Two) were deemed/private medical colleges.
If we check state wise new medical colleges ,highest 12 (Twelve) were in Telangana ,05 (five) each in Rajasthan ,Andhra Pradesh ,amp; Maharashtra ,04 (Four ) in Gujarat ,03 (Three) each in Assam, Haryana ,Karnataka , Tamil Nadu , 02 (Two) in West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha , J,amp; K and 01 (one) each in Uttar Pradesh ,amp; Nagaland .
As of now, as per official website of NMC ( March 21,2024) there are 706 medical colleges in India . Out of these 706 medical colleges there are 389 Govt./Semi Govt. , AIIMS , Central Universities/ Instituitions , 52 are deemed Universities and remaining 265 are private medical colleges in various states/UT’s of India. If we talked about number of MBBS seats ,till now there are 109145 MBBS seats (57330 in Govt. /Semi Govt. Instituitions and 51815 in private/Deemed medical colleges across India.

As far as new medical colleges are concerned till now (30/09/2022) around 35 new medical colleges (Govt. , private ) gets approval for MBBS admission in session 2022-23. Last year also 41 new medical colleges get approval for MBBS Admission .
Similarly ,two years ago around 3205 MBBS seats were added.
These seats will be available for admission for all those candidates who have successfully qualify NEET UG 2022.
Now we would like to tell you that what is latest update related to state wise MBBS seats increase in 2022.
One Government medical college (Lakhimpur Medical College) is get approval for 100 MBBS seats in Assam last year and one private medical college this year.
Similarly last year two private medical college with 150 MBBS Seats each and one ESIC medical college get approval in Bihar. Name of these medical colleges are:

As per latest update 10 (Ten) New medical colleges have been added in Uttar Pradesh. Out of these nine(09) are Government medical colleges and one is private medical college.

As far as number of MBBS seats are concerned there will be 900 seats in Government medical colleges and 150 seats in private medical colleges.
Similarly in Tamil Nadu around 12 new medical colleges get approval for session 2021-22.Out of 12 there are o5 private medical colleges and 07 Government medical colleges. As of now there are total 64 medical colleges in Tamil Nadu state.
As far as number of MBBS seats are concerned there will be 850 seats in Government medical colleges and 750 seats in private medical colleges are going to be added for 2021-22 in Tamil Nadu.

The Symbiosis Medical College for Women is the brainchild of Prof. Dr. S.B.Mujumda.He is Founder and Chancellor of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University). After seeing the biographic movie about India’s first lady doctor, Ms. Anandibai Joshi, the idea of creating a medical college exclusively for women was born.
