NRI Quota: MBBS admission for NRI students in India– Popular medical courses like MBBS, BDS and other UG level courses as a career is demanding among the students after 12th study and to pursue their medical education they have to crack NEET entrance exam.
NTA NEET exam, medical education rules, policies are managed and authorized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
MCI allocates seats of different colleges for admission on the basis of students score/rank on NEET result and category.
These seats for admission are divided in All India quota and State quota, where 15% of seats belong to All India Quota and 85% to State Quota. (For Indian Resident Students)
Apart from All India Quota and State Quota, there is also a 15% reserved special quota for NRI (non-Indian residentials) called as NRI Quota.
NRI Quota specially reserved by MCI for the students who live, study outside India but originally belong to the country.
Via NRI Quota these NRI students can easily get admission in these 15% reserved seats and can study in Indian medical colleges.

But still, they have to clear the NEET UG Exam ( scheduled on August 1, 2021) to get qualified for admission.

Candidates come under NRI Quota criteria
These Students/candidates come under the NRI quota as they are meeting below following criteria,
- Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and their children are considered as NRI
- Students who are children of State or Central Government employees, who are staying abroad on deputation period are considered as NRI.
- Students must belong to Indian origin and live or study in a foreign country.
- Indian citizens’ children staying abroad for business or employment are also considered as NRI.
- Candidates who are born abroad but the parents are of Indian origin fall under the NRI category.

NRI Quota Eligibility to Get MBBS Admission
- Students must fulfil above NRI quota criteria
- Applicants must be holding a valid passport
- The seats offered under NRI Quota will only be allocated to bonafide NRI’s
- Candidates must have qualified NEET exam
- Candidates applying under NRI sponsorship must have a real blood relation to the financial supporter, be it the mother, sister, father, brother, aunt or uncle.
Documents required for NRI quota MBBS Admission in India
The following documents are required to be submitted by the candidates,
- Class 10th (X )Mark sheet
- Class 10th (X )Passing Certificate
- Class 12th (XII )Mark sheet
- Class 12th (XII )Passing Certificate
- Mark sheet of the Qualifying Examination
- Equivalence Certificate if education is from Foreign Board/University
- Documents claiming that the person who is going to sponsor is an NRI (Passport, Visa of the sponsorer)
- Relationship of NRI with the candidate as per the court orders of The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in case W.P.(c) No. 689/2017 (CODEUNIK) & Ans. Vs Union of
- Affidavit from the sponsorer that he/ she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate duly notarized.
- Embassy Certificate of the Sponsorer (Certificate from the Consulate)
- Valid NEET UG Score Card of the candidate
NRI Quota: MBBS Admission Process
NRI quota admission for eligible candidates began with the NEET entrance exam, where they have to score qualifying marks.

After the results are announced, candidates need to register themselves on MCC official website for the counselling process. Then students who ranked higher got their seats allocated first based on NEET scores and category.
Each state has a separate counselling process for admission in NRI quota.
