If we compare it with previous years in 2021 it was 16,14,777 whereas in 2020 this figure was around 15,97,435.
All medical colleges in India come under two different Quotas, no matter what type of medical college it is Government, Private or Deemed. If we talked about number of medical colleges there are around 648 medical colleges including all , there are total 98013 MBBS seats in 2022.
Either it will be in 1. All India Quota or 2. State Quota.
- All India Quota (contain 15% seats)– Deemed universities, central universities, ESIC and AFMC institute’s 100% seats + 15% of all Government medical colleges are available for All India Quota seat allotment.
NEET UG Counselling for AIQ seats- Directorate General of Health Sciences (DGHS) conducts the counselling procedure on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee.
- 2. State Quota (contain 85% seats)- Remaining 85% seats in all government medical colleges in India comes under State Quota and 100 % seats of all private medical colleges and universities.

Although the colleges come in the same quota but their minimum marks cut-off to get admission in these can be different.

So let’s dive straight into it.
Minimum marks required in NEET for MBBS By NTA
This is officially required marks by NTA to be qualified as the pass from NEET exam results.
- The general category also known as unreserved category students need a minimum of 50 percentile around to get passed.
- On the other hand, UR-PH (Unreserved – Physical Handicapped) requires 45 percentile.
- And for SC/OBC/ST students it is required to get 40 percentile.
For those who don’t know what the percentile is?
Percentile used in NEET to determine students rankings. For example, 50 percentile means you must score higher than 50% of students appearing in NEET.

How much marks in NEET is good For 15% All India quota.
- 680+ for AIIMS , JIPMER and Top medical colleges of States
- 670+ for MAMC (Maulana Azad Medical College) and for other Top medical colleges in Delhi.
- 650+ for other colleges in Delhi.
- 640+ for top colleges in other states. (Seth GS, BJMC etc.)
- 620+ for top 5 colleges in other states
- 600+ for a decent government college in a decent but not a very popular place.
- 590+ not so popular places, like the North East, or Andaman.
How much marks in NEET is good For 85% State Quota ?
Well, this varies from state to state. A score even around 590 is not guarantee you to get admission in Government medical colleges in state like Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi .
How much marks in NEET is good For AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) ?
The cutoff for boys, is around 590–605 so anything above that. To be on the safe side, something above 600.
The cutoff for girls is around 575–560, but to be on the safe side something above 570.
How much marks in NEET is good For KMC Manipal ?
Marks around 570 should get you admission in their course, but not with any scholarship. 10% scholarship should be available around 590+ marks.
How much marks in NEET is good For top Private colleges ?
Marks around 550+ is a safe bet for top private medical colleges with low budget in India.
How much marks in NEET is good For all other private colleges?
Anything above 300 marks will be enough to get you a college but the quality of the college and the amount of fee you have to pay will depend on your score.
