What is Stray Vacancy Round in Neet Counselling? Know Everything

Stray Vacancy Round: The whole process of allocating seats for eligible students to get admission in medical colleges is started with NEET Counseling after the NEET result was announced on October 16,2020.

And from all India quota counseling to state-level counseling to Mop-up counseling, there are various rounds performed in which all candidates who are fulfilling the eligibility criteria get admission.

But what if you applied in all those previous rounds of counselling , but still didn’t get the admission in your dreamed college.

Then, there is one last hope for you is the Stray Vacancy round which is also known as the institutional Mop-up round of counselling. And good thing is that in stray vacancy round of counselling ,students having even less NEET  score can expect good medical colleges depending on their budget.

Note : Major issue with this round is simultaneous counselling. And because of this your have to plan very smartly where can be good chances to get a seat in your budget. It is not possible to attend of different states as original documents are required at the time of counselling .

What is Stray Vacancy Round Counselling?

What is Stray Vacancy Round in Neet Counselling

Stray Vacancy is the round of Counseling which deals with seats left vacant or remaining unfiled still after a mop-up round of MCC or state counseling. Then this round conducted by colleges to fill the left seat.

And today we are going to talk and understand what is stray vacancy round and how things are done in the stray round and who can participate in the stray round, eligibility, and the process of participating in the stray round for students.

And the most important thing, how colleges give their vacant seats in the Stray vacancy round.

So let’s start,

Stray vacancy round is mostly happens in those states or some category colleges, which have NRI  or management quota seats.

All the colleges which have seats that are left un-allotted after the mop-up round get the command from authority to conduct a Stray vacancy round for them to fulfill these remaining seats.

This round performed on an institutional level, that’s why we also call it an institutional mop round.

Things happen in institutional mop up/college Level Vacancy Round

  • First of all, you should know there is no fixed parameter in stray vacancy round
  • Authority put no bound for this round on colleges
  • Stray vacancy round conducted on State level/college level/university level
  • Every college is independent to give admission in these vacant seats on their own parameter or decided rules.
  • Some colleges normally announce their merit list for the seats, while some demand an amount. The demanding amount doesn’t mean these colleges are asking for donations. Because these seats are NRI vacant seats so they have permission to ask for a certain amount against these vacant seats. I hope you understood this.
  • There are no solid policies you are gonna find on stray vacancy round counseling as I told you above institutions have no fixed parameters.
  • Some state college’s parameters are restricted by state authority but most colleges, mostly deemed colleges are work on a free hand.

Now let’s see the process of participating in Stray round counseling if you want to participate.

Stray Vacancy Round Participation Process,

  • As I said, there are no fixed parameters so you have to get information separately for every college conducting this round.
  • Most colleges open the participation registration on their college website, you can have yourself register there.
  • Must Note, you have to particularly go to every college site (conducting stray round) and fill their form separately to participate in their stray vacancy round.
  • Then, you have to physically go to these colleges with all the required documents on the decided date for the next step process.
  • Stray vacancy rounds happen in a small duration normally in 4 days. So make sure to be ready with everything, all documents, and already decide which state college you wanna apply to because you have to travel to those colleges for admission.
  • So our suggestion is to participate in only those colleges, which admission criteria you fulfill. (You can now this criterion by contacting the college
