Scope of B.V.Sc & A.H

Bachelor of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & AH) is a five-year undergraduate program that focuses on the study of animal health and welfare, animal husbandry, and veterinary science. The scope of this program is vast and varied, and graduates have a wide range of career options to choose from.

  1. Veterinary Practice: B.V.Sc , AH graduates can set up their own veterinary clinics and provide healthcare services to animals. They can also work as veterinarians in animal hospitals and clinics.

  2. Government Jobs: Graduates can apply for government jobs in various departments such as animal husbandry, dairy development, and veterinary services.

B.V.Sc  & A.H counselling Process

Veterinary Council of India (VCI) will start admission through counselling in the month of  August,  . Applicants wiling to take admission in B.V.Sc & A.H. courses have to apply on the official by filling the admission form. As there are total 5087  seats and through this  counselling student will be eligible to fight against admission to 761 (15 % AIQ )Bachelors of Veterinary Sciences (B.V.Sc) , A.H. seats . As of now there are around 50 Government and around 10 private veterinary Institutes across the India.

Haryana Veterinary counselling schedule 2022

All India level admission are  on the basis of marks secured in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test .

NEET UG 2026 exam is scheduled on May 3 ,2026 (Sunday) and result is expected by June 15,2026. You must know that ,VCI will conduct online counselling to fill the 15% All India Quota seats, which are reserved in all government colleges of India. As per norms of  VCI Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE) regulations 7(8) 2016, 15% of the total seats from each college will be available for all India quota.

B.V.Sc , A.H. Veterinary Admission Criteria

The table given below explains the criteria of admission to B.V.Sc and A.H. courses offered by government veterinary colleges.

B.V.Sc and A.H/Veterinary  Admission Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants are suggested to read the complete details carefully to avoid last moment rush and mistake. There are few factors which decide the eligibility criteria for any type of admission. Some of the important factors are given below:

  • Nationality

  1. Applicants should be Indian Citizen

  2. Those Applicants who comes under  NRI, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) cardholder and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) can also participate in counselling and take admission. All other Applicants are consider in general category.

  3. Since the provisions of Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984, have not been extended to the state of J and K, so, Applicants from J , K are not eligible for counselling to 15% All India Quota seats. However, such Applicants who do not hold domicile of the state of J and K have to submit an affidavit as prescribed by the competent authority.

  • Age:

  1. Applicants must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31.

  2. Relaxation of 5 years is given to Applicants of Other Backward Class (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).

  3. The general, SC/ST/OBC and PH Applicants born between the following dates will be allowed for admission in Veterinary 

  • Educational Qualification of the applicants:

  • Physical Disability/Physically Handicapped:

  • Applicants willing to take admission in  B.V.Sc and A.H. courses through All India Quota  under PwD category must be included in the 15% All India Quota list published by VCI.

  • Such Applicants who are affected from the disabilities mentioned below will not be allowed admissions

  • Total body disability which includes more than 50% chest or spine disability

  • More than 50% disability of the lower limb

  • Applicants who are visually impaired

  • Applicants suffering hearing disability

  • aspirant who have progressive diseases like myopathies etc.

  • Applicants suffering from disabilities which would otherwise interfere in their performance of being a veterinarian

NEET UG entrance exam

As per VCI-MSVE regulations 2016, 15% of the total seats will be compulsorily allotted on the basis of All India Rank of the NEET UG  examination.

In order to qualify the for medical entrance exam , Applicants have to secure the minimum NEET cut off percentile
